LOCAL artistes who are billed to share the stage with Nigerian singer Davido on Saturday at Belgravia Sports Club in Harare said they are ready for the show and are promising sterling performances.

BY ARTS REPORTER Speaking to NewsDay in separate interviews, some of the artistes promised surprise packages at the show.

Urban groover Trevor Dongo said: “I am ready to steal the show and prove to both the fans and promoters that I have what it takes to be among the performers sharing the stage with Davido, one of the most talented artistes. If everything goes well I will be happy to record a duet with Davido.”

Talented wheel Spinner, Nyasha Kada, known as DJ Ashy Styles, said he had not performed on such a big stage and he was relishing the chance.

“On Saturday I am looking forward to a good show promising the best on the turntables,” he said.

Roki, who has a record of mesmerising audiences with his energetic dances, will also be out to prove he is a serious contender on the local showbiz scene.

Partson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions, who is part of the team bringing Davido for a maiden performance in the country, confirmed that the Skelewu hitmaker will arrive in the country tomorrow afternoon with a live band aboard South African Airways.

“We are happy with the preparations of the show as everything is going according to the script and it is now left to the artistes not to spoil the show. Davido will perform for the average one-and-half to two hours, which is the international standard,” Chipaz said.

“Fans should come in their numbers on Friday and mix and mingle with Davido as we have organised a welcome party for him at Club 1+1 at Long Cheng Plaza Mall.”

Chimbodza said the show tickets will go on sale tomorrow morning at all Chicken Slice and Spar outlets across the country, selling at $10, $15, $20, $50 and $100 respectively.

Some of the artistes who will share the stage with Davido include Soul Africa while wheel spinners DJ Stavo, Ashy Styles and Gary B will take turns to entertain revellers, rocking it on the decks.
