Yuna Yuna, as they are affectionately known by their legion of fans, are occupying third position on the log standings with 31 points from 16 matches, just three points adrift of log leaders Hartley Academy.

Hartley Academy dropped two points after they were held to a one-all stalemate by ZRP Masvingo at Mucheke Stadium on Sunday.

Mutare City Rovers were the biggest winners over the weekend after demolishing Ruwa Gunners 6-0 at Sakubva Stadium on Saturday to remain within touching distance of the leaders with 29 points.

Mutare-based side Tenax also garnered maximum points after posting a crucial 1-0 win over Prime Rangers on Saturday.

They are on sixth position with 28 points from 15 matches.

Masvingo United team manager Phillip Shumba said he was happy with his side’s performance, but believes that this year’s race for promotion is tough.

“The race for Premiership promotion is tough, but we have a good team that is up to the task. We are taking each game as it comes and we are ready for the battle,” he said.

“I just want to thank our supporters and well-wishers who are supporting us and they should continue backing us in the second half of the season,” he said.

Prison wardens side Tenax captain Lee Musiteyi is also fancying his side’s chances of Premiership promotion.

“I think we also have a chance of gaining Premiership promotion. We just need to be focused in the second half of the season,’’ he said.

Tenax are enjoying fine form and their rearguard with Munyaradzi Sako, Misheck Shonga, Kudzayi Musindo and goalleeper Phillip Makume is doing well.
