Zifa makes $27 000 loss from Under-23 match

According to a Zifa income and expenditure account for the day, the total expenditure totalled $62 888,52, leaving the national association with a loss of $27 279,52.

A total of 9 313 ($3 tickets for the rest of the ground) were sold, 1 190 ($5 tickets) were sold while only 172 fans bought the $10 VIP tickets.

The major cost drivers were the Young Warriors’ one week accommodation expenses which totalled $12 530 while for the visitors they paid $9 155.

Allowances (camping and appearance fees) for the Young Warriors gobbled $12 000, at least leaving Zifa in the clear with the players and technical team.

The Harare City Council smiled all the way to the bank with $5 341,25 for ground rentals for Rufaro. Not to be outdone in the spending spree was the Zimbabwe Republic Police for stadium security who took away $2 241, plus $800 for escort.

Fees for match officials, from Zambia, cost $3 800, airfares $2 163, accommodation $2 141 car hire $300.

Apart from paying other various service providers, the Sports and Recreation Commission took their mandatory 6% levy totaling $2 136,54, Confederation of African Football (5%) amounting to $1 780,45 while Fifa were paid 2% levy which amounts to $712,18.
