The 19-year-old goalminder has been outstanding for Caps United where he has kept goal in nine league and three off season cup games.

And his heroics between the posts has not gone unnoticed with Warriors coach Kalisto Pasuwa calling him up for the clash against Comoros following the withdrawal of Tatenda Mukuruva from camp by Dynamos.

“It’s my first time to be called to the national team and I am happy to be part of the Warriors squad. It’s an honour and a good opportunity for me. I will try to give it my best. I know it will not be easy to get a first team shirt, but I will work hard, anything can happen,” the Caps United shot stopper said.

The former Gutu High School student was recently described by former Caps United coach Mark Harrison as “the best goalkeeper in the country” after he produced several classy stops which kept his team in a match which they displayed a lackluster show which ended in a 0-0 draw against lowly Flame Lily at the National Sports Stadium before the two week break.

Speaking after that match Harrison said: “I have a 19-year-old goalkeeper who is the best in the country. Any club that wants him should expect to pay millions of dollars. You saw his display today. He is agile and takes some crosses well but just needs to work on a few areas like distribution.”

However, the tried-and-tested Bernard Donovan is likely to be given the nod ahead of him as Pasuwa will have to opt for experience as he seeks to protect his 2-0 lead from the first leg in Harare.

They need a draw to qualify to the second round of the qualifiers.

The Warriors rested yesterday morning and continued with their preparations in the afternoon at Rufaro Stadium.

Pasuwa said FC Platinum striker Emmanuel Mandiranga and Chicken Inn hitman Edmore Chirambadare who picked some knocks at training on Wednesday had recovered and will make the trip to Comoros.

The Warriors are expected to leave for the Comoros tonight on a chartered flight.
