The miners have amassed a total of 22 points in the opening stanza of the campaign and they trail leaders Chicken Inn by seven points.

Pure Platinum Play were expected to challenge for the league’s ultimate price, but a false start to the season seemed to have derailed the mission.

Mapeza is however, confident that his charges were moving in the right path as they enter into the second half of the season with a reverse fixture against Chapungu at Mandava.

“The most important thing was for us to go beyond the twenty point mark and we have done that and the point difference with those at the top is not very big,” he said.

The Zvishavane-based side might lose some of his best talent in the current transfer window, but Mapeza was confident they will move on.

Donald Ngoma is set to move to Tanzanian side Young Africans if he passes his medicals although reports yesterday suggested that he had not made the grade due to “broken tissues”, and the trio of Aaron Katebe, Wisdom Mutasa and Walter Musona are also seeking new pastures abroad.

“If we do not get injuries those available players can do the job and I have confidence in what we have. The most important thing is to have confidence in these players some might call them fringe players, but we keep them because we need them,” he said.

The coach also highlighted that there will be some additions to the current squad in this transfer market.

“Remember, we have Marshall Mudehwe and Steven Sibanda who were not registered, but are doing well in training so we are going to register those players,” Mapeza said.

The club is believed to be in the market for a striker and a midfielder, they lost out on their initial target Takesure Chinyama, but they are still scouting for reinforcements to their strike force.
