Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe deferred the matter after State counsel Sharon Mashavira requested for more time to collect some evidence from the Central Vehicle Registry.

The three — Christopher Mukuwo (38), Edison Mashiri (40) and Kenneth Mujuru (44) — were nabbed in the capital on July 6 this year following a trap by police detectives and found in possession of 11 fake metal drivers’ licence discs, a fake public vehicle route authority and vehicle fitness certificate.

Mukuwo and Mujuru were recently granted bail by the High Court, but their accomplice Mashiri was remanded in custody after he failed to hire a lawyer for his bail application.

Mashiri yesterday requested Mahwe to place him on free bail, arguing that he could not afford to hire a lawyer.

But Mahwe advised him to approach the High Court for bail.
