The miners are undefeated in their previous five league matches with three wins and two draws.

The airmen, meanwhile have seen a sharp decline in form and are yet to win in their previous three league matches.

On the log standings, the two teams are separated by one point with Chapungu having amassed 22 points from 14 games with the miners a point behind on position six.

Pure Platinum Play will go into the duel without a number of first team players including Walter Musona and Wisdom Mutasa who are trying their luck at FC Senica in Slovakia while Gift Bello is serving suspension.

Striker Donald Ngoma has joined Young Africans of Tanzania — and has already been unveiled — on a two-year deal after passing his medicals although a transfer figure, believed to be in the region of $25 000 is yet to be agreed between the two teams.

However, FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza is confident that his available players can do the job in Gweru and is not thinking of bolstering his squad in the mid-season transfer window.

“We go into every match with a positive mind to get a positive result. I cannot say we are going there to beat Chapungu, but we are going to look for a positive result.

“We do not have some of our players, but it doesn’t matter we have done it before without them and I am confident we will do well with what is available,” he said.

Chapungu head coach John Nyikadzino knows the size of the task that lies ahead this afternoon, but is equally confident of doing well.

“We are playing one of the most organised teams in the league so we need to be at our best to get a good result,” he said.

“With the way we have prepared for the match I am confident we can get a positive result. The good thing is that we are playing at home and our supporters will be behind us.”
