Caps United board member (marketing) Alois Bunjira said the former Dynamos striker has not been reporting for training since the Harare giants went on a tour of Mozambique during the two week Castle Premiership break.

“We just heard Mutuma had quit Caps United but he has not informed us. As far as we are concerned, the player has a running contract with Caps United but he is not reporting for training. We don’t know where he is. He has gone AWOL. The board will meet to decide on the way forward,” Bunjira yesterday said.

While reports suggest that he is eying a move to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where an unnamed club has shown interest in him, it is highly unlikely that he would be cleared by the club given the manner in which he has handled the issue.

Even if he were to join a local side, he cannot be registered by the PSL without a clearance letter from his previous club.

Neither the player nor his manager Edzai Kasinauyo could be reached for comment yesterday.

Last month, the former Dynamos striker announced he had quit the Green Machine over non-payment of outstanding salaries and allowances as the Harare giants experienced cash flow problems.

He revealed he was keen to join Bulawayo giants Highlanders, but when Farai Jere came on board as the major shareholder, Mutuma appeared to show remorse and was eventually readmitted into the team.

He has been coming from the bench in matches he played since his readmission into the team under former British coach Mark Harrison who demanded that he should earn his place in the team.

Caps United face off table toppers Chicken Inn in a Castle Lager Premiership match at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday hoping to secure maximum points having drawn their previous match under Mark Mathe who took over from Harrison.
