In an interview with NewsDay following the release of her single track titled Cry on Tuesday, which features the late mbira songstress Chiwoniso Maraire, Nyaradzo said people should take a stand against child abuse.

Tomana recently stirred a hornet’s nest after insinuating in an interview with a local daily that the nation should consider allowing young girls to exercise choices such as engaging in sex with older men.

Nyaradzo, however, said issues pertaining to the eradication of abuse should be top priority in the country.

“I want to encourage the whole nation and those in influential positions to consider issues of girls, young women and youths seriously.

“The issues of protection of girls against child marriages and making sure that the law is in alignment with the issues of child marriages so that we fight abuse and marriage of young girls,” she said.

She said although the song was recorded in 2012 she had postponed its release to allow the mourning of Maraire and now coincidentally is the right time amid rising cases of abuses.

“This song is being released at a time we have been hearing a lot of reckless utterances on issues to do with girls,” added Mashayamombe.

The song, which is crafted with experience owing to her immense knowledge on the subject of women’s abuse, was produced by Clive Mono Mukundu.

It will air on different platforms beyond the nation’s borders as she will send to colleagues around the world to redress the issue of abuse which has is not solely Zimbabwe’s problem.
