The Gamecocks come into the fixture as surprise log leaders in Match Day 12, facing the Airmen whose rise from the ashes to fifth place, five points behind leaders and a single point behind second-placed Dynamos has also caught many by surprise.

In their previous nine league matches, Chapungu’s only glitch is the 2-0 loss away to Harare City last Friday having recorded an incredible six wins and two draws prior.

Chicken Inn are not looking back having already taken a four-point lead at the summit of the standings. Last season, Chapungu got the better of the Gamecocks winning 3-1 and will be hoping to replicate that result.

Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino is confident of halting their high-flying opponents and quickly restoring their winning mentality as well.

“Chicken Inn should expect a tough match, we are prepared for them. We will treat them as log leaders and I am confident we will get a good result,” he said.

“The result against Harare City is a minor setback and the guys have responded well at training; they want to quickly come back to winning ways starting with this home match. We are playing at home and we want to make our fans happy with a good game.

“All our players are available for selection with the exception of Marvelous Dikinya who is suspended.”

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas is confident that his charges can maintain their commendable run in the campaign.

“It is a difficult game playing away from home, but we will give it our best,” he said.

“We have been playing good football and we are confident with our team ahead of the game. We will play to get maximum points.

“Only Ben Nyahunzvi is not available for selection on Saturday (tomorrow) but I have confidence in the available players to get a good result in Gweru.”
