The track is armed with a degree of clarity in composition and instrumentation that has it competing for audiences even within those that do not usually listen to gospel music.

The gospel artiste of the moment — Takesure Zamar Ncube — features on the album.

Zamar comes in halfway into the song and this allows Wenyasha to shine without being overshadowed.

Yet he brings the track to a new high with a friskily rusty voice that one would liken to Sankomota or Hugh Masekela’s. Having started singing in church at 15, Wenyasha grew up spending life between his rural home in Rusape and Harare’s Kuwadzana suburb and got called to sing in the senior choir.

“I wrote my first song when I was 17 and since then I have never stopped writing,” said Wenyasha.

“I recorded my first single, Raramo in 2007, but it made little success. I almost decided to quit music when I was booted out of the CBZ A Academy 2007 right in the first round, but I remained resolute on my dream to become a gospel musician.

“I believe God has taught me a lot musically since then and meeting Takesure Zamar in 2011 changed a lot of things as he called me to join Worship Addicts. This was a breakthrough for me as I managed to get the much-needed exposure in the industry.”

He said he was mentored by Zamar at Harvest House International Church as a budding recording artiste.

Musadzokere Kumashure was released in June last year and Wenyasha says the response has been amazing.

He graduated with a degree in Media Studies at the Midlands State University in 2014.
