The win adds their points tally to 21 after nine matches, a point better than second-placed Chrome Stars who are in hot pursuit after a narrow 1-0 win away to Silo United.

Third-placed Border Strikers seem to have regained their stride with a 5-0 home mauling of Vumbachikwe which made sure they remained three points behind leaders ZPC Munyati.

Shabanie Mine are still sweating to knit together a consistent winning run after they were held to a goalless draw by Gweru United.

Last season’s runners-up MSU stumbled this weekend after they were held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Mvuma Stars.

In the Eastern Region, Prime Rangers consolidated their top position after grinding out a 1-0 win against Mwenezana in Ruwa over the weekend.

Rangers have collected 21 points from nine matches, while Hartley Academy remained in second position despite not kicking a ball over the weekend.

Their opponents, Correctional Services and Prisons side Tenax, were participating at the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services tournament in Bulawayo over the weekend.

Hartley Academy who have played a game less are occupying second position with 17 points, while Masvingo City, who were held to a 2-2 draw against Mutoko Traders, are on third position with 17 points from nine matches.

It was a good weekend for Mutare City after they dismantled Police Support Unit side Black Eagles 2-0 in Chipinge to remain in fourth position with 17 points.

In the Southern Region Soccer League, ZPC Hwange are still on top after edging Indlovu Iyanyathela 1-0 in Hwange at the weekend. Barnabas Madamba scored the goal for ZPC Hwange to register their seventh win in 11 games.

The power utility boys are on 25 points, two ahead of Bulawayo Chiefs who were also successful in their outing against Amagagasi when they beat them 1-0.

Chiefs’ solitary strike came from Kundishora Chakanyuka.

Indlovu Iyanyathela slid two places down the ladder to 11th position with 14 points after the defeat, while Amagagasi also went two rungs down with the same number.

Bulawayo City beat Bantu Rovers 1-0 to move joint second with 23 points after Trevor Ndlovu’s goal in the 52nd minute sealed victory.

Technosphere beat struggling Old Nic Mine 3-0 to register their fifth victory, while the latter remained rooted in the relegation zone on 14th position with seven points. Technosphere got their goals from Clayton Lungu, Artwell Nyoni and Bekithemba Nyoni.

Also in the relegation zone are Hwange Under-20 who lost their eighth match to Makomo 1-0 with Makomo moving up two places to ninth with 15 points.

Black Boots, who at some point looked like strong contenders for the championship ,also moved up the standings from 10th to eighth after their 1-0 victory over Nust with Trumus and Casmyn playing a nil-all draw.

Mpumalanga and Ntabazinduna face off tomorrow in Hwange.
