Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko is expected to be guest of honour at the prize-giving ceremony.

Although the schools that will be taking part have not been named, Orap acting chief executive officer Dumisani Nyoni said the schools would be drawn from Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Midlands and Bulawayo.

“We will only get the names of the schools by the end of the week as Matabeleland South is still in the process of getting their winner. Fourteen boys’ schools and four girls’ schools will take part in the competition and they will play a group round-robin format,” he said.

Nyoni said the girls’ final would highlight the June 12 programme while the boys’ semi-finals and final would be played the next day.

“We are expecting Vice-President Phelekezela Mphoko to be the guest of honour at the tournament on Saturday. We are also expecting the Minister of sports Arts and Culture (Andrew Langa) and relevant dignitaries to grace the occasion,” he said.

Last year the tournament was won by Mpopoma High School after beating Thekwane 3-0. Mpopoma got a kit, floating trophy and two boxes of balls while all the other schools were given a box of balls, each for taking part.
