But ZRP Football Club and Gunners are chasing hard while Mushowani and DStv Rangers are not far off the pace.

This weekend saw teams conniving to draw matches with only four teams, DStv Rangers, Rhinos, Gunners and Darwin United managing to collect maximum points out of nine games that were played.

Log leaders Ngezi Platinum entered and finished the weekend on top despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Mushowani Stars.

Despite the blip, which saw the gap at the top being sliced to two points, the well sponsored side who are powered by Zimplats, are looking like genuine title challengers this season.

Rhinos, who were relegated to the second tier division last season, are on Ngezi’s heels, making sure that the log leaders constantly glance above their shoulders. This weekend, they recorded a 1-2 win at Cargo Carriers to close the point difference.

The log table became a little congested from the third position going downwards.

Third placed ZRP Football Club, tied on 17 points with Gunners are separated by just three points from eighth placed Blue Swallows.

In between are Mushowani Stars and DStv Rangers who are tied on 16 points while Herentals are a point below on seventh position.

Lake Harvest maintained ninth position with a a draw at struggling ZRP Morris and lead another group of middle table teams.

This group includes Blue Jets, Darwin United who are tied on 12 points, Karoi United and Seven Flames who are a point below and DC Academy on 10 points.

Then there is the bottom four group, involved in their own battle – the battle to survive. Cargo Carriers tops this pile with nine points, two above Starbill and ZRP Morris while Zatez, promoted this year from Division Two are early contenders for the drop with just three points from 10 games. They are the only team in the league yet to win a match this season.
