The games, in which each of the country’s 10 provinces is represented in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, are set for Mosi-oa-Tunya High School in Victoria Falls.

One of the tournament’s organisers Simon Lawson told NewsDay Sport that all was in place for the annual event.

“All the provinces have confirmed participation for both the boys’ and girls’ teams. Matches will start on Friday (tomorrow) for all the group matches and the finals will be on Saturday.

This tournament will be used to select players for the Under-17 teams to represent Zimbabwe in the Cossasa Games to be held in Bulawayo in August,” said Lawson.

Mashonaland West and Harare Province won last year year’s Nash Under-17 titles in the boys’ and girls’ sections respectively.

The Mashonaland West side team beat Harare Province 34-26 in the finals to win the prestigious schools basketball title in the boys’ category.

In the girls’ category, Harare Province won the title after walloping Mashonaland West Province 34-8 in the final.
