HWANGE and FC Platinum settled for a point each in this rather dull Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at the Colliery yesterday.

The hosts scored through Pritchard Mpelele in the 64th minute before the visitors’ Obrey Chirwa levelled in the 84th minute.

Though FC Platinum gaffer Norman Mapeza described the game as dull, he said he was happy with his charges’ performance as they had managed to salvage a point.

His counterpart, Nation Dube, expressed disappointment at his boys’ failure to utilise the few chances that came their way.

“We thought we had won, but the boys let down their guard in defence and for that we settled for a draw when he had the advantage,” Dube said.

Mpelele had a chance to make it 2-0 in the 73rd minute, but failed to bury the chance after receiving a fine cross from Evans Rusike.

FC Platinum made a surprise comeback ensuring the journey to Hwange was not in vain when Wisdom Mutasa found a gap in Chipangano’s defence and fed Chirwa who slid the ball home past goalkeeper Timothy Sibanda.
