Beulah Nyakuringa (35), who is employed by Eris, an Econet agent, was on Thursday last week allegedly attacked by Respect Mwale (27), Courage Dzvairo (25) and one Brighton, who is at large, just after closing her business while on her way home.

Mwale and Dzvairo were not asked to plead when they appeared before Mbare resident magistrate Anita Tshuma facing robbery charges and were remanded in custody to June 24.

Allegations against the two are that on the day in question, they were in the company of Brighton when they hatched a plan to steal from the Econet agent employee.

It is alleged, they waited for Nyakuringa to close shop and later followed her to the bus terminus where Brighton is said to have boarded the same commuter omnibus with her, while Mwale and Dzvairo followed in a Toyota Ipsum.

The court heard when Nyakuringa disembarked at Ingwe Drive in Zengeza 2, Chitungwiza, Brighton allegedly disembarked with her. The State alleges Nyakuringa was then blocked by the Ipsum driven by Mwale while Dzvairo and Brighton grabbed her by the neck and bundled her into the vehicle.

The three allegedly demanded cash from Nyakuringa, who gave them her handbag which had $3, Ecocash shop keys, and a Samsung and a Huawei phone.

The trio then allegedly forced her head down so she could not see anything.

The State alleges the gang drove back to the shop where Mwale took the keys, opened the shop and stole $591 from the cash box.

It is alleged he stole another Samsung cellphone which had $1 875 in its ecocash wallet before returning to the car.

The trio drove to the city centre where they allegedly threatened Nyakuringa to supply the pin code to her Ecocash account, which she did.

The State alleges Mwale then transferred $1 000 into Debra Goya’s Ecocash account and another $875 into Allen Zenda’s account which he later withdrew.
