Darikwa had a sensational season with English League One outfit Chesterfield last season which included scooping the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season gongs.

Born to an English mother and a Zimbabwean father, the 23-year-old has pledged allegiance to the Warriors and was overlooked by Kalisto Pasuwa for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi two weeks ago.

Leeds United are understood to be eyeing Darikwa as a possible replacement for Sam Byram, who is a target of some Premiership clubs including Sunderland, Newcastle and Liverpool.

“He was an ever-present in the league in 2014-15, with his consistent performances having caught the eye of a number of higher division clubs, including Leeds who have followed up their initial interest,” reported the Yorkshire Evening Post. “The addition of Darikwa would potentially boost Leeds’ options down the right, where they have little cover. The highly-rated full-back, 23, who can play at right-back or on the right-hand side of midfield, has a year left on his Spireites deal and Leeds are understood to have held talks with the Derbyshire club. Nottingham-born Darikwa picked up a number of seasonal awards at Chesterfield last term – including the Player of the Year award and Players’ Player Of The Season accolade.” Darikwa has previously been linked with English Premier League sides Manchester United and Everton.
