The Nerunako hit-maker confirmed that he took the giant leap in an interview with NewsDay, but could not shed light on his plans for a white wedding.

“This marriage is a symbol that I have grown up both as an artiste and as man who is ready to settle down and have a family,” Dongo said.

“It feels great to be married after such a long relationship where I have taken time to know my partner.

“I feel like a man now and the wedding is a surprise that is on its way.”

Dongo said he did not subscribe to the notion that celebrities’ marriages did not last.

He said artistes were also human and could face the same marital challenges that ordinary people go through.

“When we are on stage we will be at work and negative perceptions with regards to art are not correct as they portray everyone in bad light,” said Dongo.

“Contrary to the view that musicians get married for fame, my union with Ashley is a genuine marriage which will stand the test of time and set an example for fellow artistes.”

Dongo paid lobola over the weekend at a ceremony that took place at Ashley’s residence in Zimre Park.

The couple got engaged in April last year.

Since his arrival on the local showbiz scene in 2001 with the release of his debut album Ndozviita Sei, Dongo has proved his mettle in the industry.
