A poster has already been flighted on his official Facebook page and reads: “Harlington Shereni and Friends vs the National Team.”

Shereni, who turns 40 on July 6, played 23 times for the Warriors and scored five times. He started his career at Dynamos in 1998-1999 before leaving for SR Delemont in Switzerland before moving to FC Istres in France in the 2003/2004 season.

He then joined French Ligue One side En Avant Guingamp and played for three seasons in which he made 71 appearances and scoring five times between 2004 and 2007. Shereni was then sent on loan to Racing Club Strasbourg between 2008 and 2009, scoring four times in 26 matches before calling it quits.

Some of the players that Shereni donned the Warriors jersey with include legendary skipper and now Mamelodi Sundowns team manager Peter Ndlovu, Lazarus Muhoni and SuperSport United development coach Kaitano Tembo, who are all likely to feature in this match. The Warriors are under the tutelage of the Kalisto Pasuwa and will certainly do with the preparatory match ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that will start the in mid-June.

Zifa spokesman Xolisani Gwesela said discussions are underway. “He has approached us and discussions are underway,” he said last night.
