THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) is facing serious operational challenges owing to shortage of resources, Parliament’s Human Rights Committee heard yesterday. It emerged during a tour of the Chikurubi Maximum and the Harare Central prisons by a Senate Human Rights Committee that the ZPCS was grappling with acute shortage of food, fuel, drugs, clothes and other important things.

some of thess people have done horrible stuff ,they should not be treated like kings other wise they will end up killing us so that they stay there like what South Africans do.Europe mind your own business if it pains you just donate
What about those convicted of crimes they did not commit?
It is so inhuman. I mean the conditions which the inmates live in. One should bear in mind that, the reason why some of them were convicted is to correct them. To rehabilitate them, such that they do not commit the same crime again and others can also learn from their mistakes. Now if these people live in such sub-standardised conditions, what are we achieving as a natio? Things are hard for everyone in this country but, it becomes much harder for these inmates who cannot do much to sustain themselves. The state and everyone else should ensure that these inmates get all the basic necessities. Food, adequate clothing and good health facilities.
the whole point is to make them suffer, take away their pleasures so they dont commit a similar offence. prison life is meant to be hard and this is the best possible rehab procedure which is effective.
All parliamentarians should take a tour of prisons before they make a vote on which vehicles to purchase.
