Zanu PF Nyanga North MP Hubert Nyanhongo confirmed the incident which occurred in the Nyakomba area and identified the woman as Venencia Chitanda.
Nyanhongo said Mphoko donated $500 towards the woman’s burial. “The woman had come to the meeting looking well. She was dancing with others as they were waiting for the arrival of the Vice-President before she suddenly fell. Some say she was asthmatic,” Nyanhongo said.
“However, it must be noted that the Vice-President donated $500 towards the funeral.
“The money will be used towards buying the coffin and food. The money came from the Vice-President, but on behalf of the party.”
Some party members told NewsDay that the incident happened around mid-day well before Mphoko’s arrival.
Well-wishers reportedly rushed her to a local clinic where she was confirmed dead on arrival.
