At a time when the nation is eager to know Kachote’s fate, the return of Miss Zimbabwe Trust chairperson Marry Mubaiwa-Chiwenga — who was on an official business outside the country when the matter exploded — could not help the nation which is following the saga with anxiety.

Yesterday Mubaiwa-Chiwenga confirmed to NewsDay that they had met with Kachote, but was not at liberty to get into details, maintaining that she will only do so when investigations are completed.

“As you know I was away, I only met with Emily yesterday (Thursday) and she said she would advise us when she would be calm to speak about the issue and we understood her,” Chiwenga said.

Mubaiwa-Chiwenga professed ignorance on the fact that the issue of nude pictures had tainted the image of the pageant.

“Who is saying the image of the pageant has been tarnished as you claim? As far as we are concerned, we are in the right direction in terms of running the pageant. As long as our partners are happy with us, we have no problem,” she said.

She said they were not running out of time for preparations ahead of the Miss World Finals to be held later in October.

“We are not even under pressure in terms of preparing for the Miss World pageant. The actual date of the pageant has not been unveiled so we cannot say we are running out of time,” she said.

Miss Zimbabwe Trust spokesperson Tendai Chirau maintained that they were still conducting investigations into the allegations.

“We cannot pre-empt what we have at the moment on the allegations of Kachote’s leaked pictures. We can only share with the public after we are through with the investigations,” Chirau said.

According to Miss Zimbabwe Trust, the 25-year-old Kachote will be dethroned and her crown handed to her first princess if it is proven that she posed nude and is the one in the pictures that are circulating on the social media networks.
