Mangoma, a former Energy minister in the Government of National Unity which ended in 2013, confirmed yesterday that he had been notified by a police officer to report to the Law and Order section.

“I was phoned by one superintendent and he said he was looking for me. They went to my house yesterday (Wednesday), but I had already travelled out of town, so I told them I would present myself on Monday,” he said.

“I then sent my lawyer to talk to them, but apart from that, they want to arrest me. They did not say what they wanted to arrest me for.”

Mangoma, a former MDC-T deputy treasurer-general, is not new to brushes with the law after he was arrested while still Energy minister on fraud charges which were, however, dismissed by the courts.

Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba yesterday said she was not aware of the intended arrest.

“They have not yet told me. Let me find out from them first,” Charamba said.
