COSAFA-bound senior national men’s team received a major boost ahead of the tournament after Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries leader Walter Magaya yesterday donated funds to cover the team’s expenses while in South Africa.

The R560 000 ($54 000) cash donation was presented to the team at Magaya’s church service yesterday evening. He also promised to continue supporting Zifa.
The Warriors team, led by captain Danny Phiri, attended the service soon after their afternoon training session.
Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze was present, together with board members John Phiri and Fungai Chihuri and the association’s spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela.
Magaya said the money is “specifically for the tournament”.
“Our aim is to help you lift the flag of our nation high, to support the whole tournament as you have requested,” Magaya said.
Among other expenses the money will cover the team’s allowances. Phiri thanked Magaya and promised that his team would do their best to win the tournament.
This is not the first time that Magaya has come to Zifa’s rescue.
Last month, he donated $28 100 to the Mighty Warriors on the eve of their All-Africa Games qualifying match against Ghana.
The Warriors are expected to leave for Pretoria tomorrow morning ahead of their Group A opening match against Mauritius on Sunday.
Other teams in the group are Namibia who the Warriors face on Thursday next week and Seychelles.
