The programme is being funded by Lafarge Cement, one of the country’s biggest cement producing companies situated adjacent to the high-density suburbs. The company offered training to community environmental monitors and cleaned up rubbish dumps at Kamunhu shopping centre using front end loaders and dumping trucks.

“By working with the community on this and other initiatives, it is evidence of a responsible corporate entity that fully appreciates the importance of cordial relationships with the community within which it operates,” Kasukuwere said.

The launch was attended by City of Harare officials, local MP James Maridadi, Lafarge executives and residents.
