The Sweden-based striker, who plays his club football for Djurgardens, is creating waves in that country and on Monday scored a double in a 3-2 victory over Halmstad on Monday — his third brace of the campaign.

He has scored an incredible nine goals in nine matches since his transfer early this year.

Yesterday he told NewsDay Sport he had placed his faith on God and He was blessing him in his football career.

“For now I don’t want to speak too much. I want to focus on my job. It had been a while without playing,” said the former Caps United striker.

“What I can only say is that God is blessing me. He is the only one I put my faith in and praise. I can’t say much right now. I have to focus on the job at hand and everything else leave in His hands.”

The 27-year-old’s exploits in Sweden have attracted several European clubs with English Premiership side Leicester City, Netherlands sides FC Groningen and SC Heerenveen, Bundesliga clubs Harmburger SV, FC Augusburg and FC Nurnberg all reportedly falling over each other to secure his signature.

Mushekwi is on loan to the Swedish side from South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Zimbabwean’s brace on Monday helped lift Djurgardens from fourth to the top of the league table with 19 points from nine matches.

The Swedish club has played one more game than the rest of the teams. IFK Goteborg are on second position with 19 points from eight matches, while Malmo FF are third on 18 points from the same number of matches.

More importantly, Mushekwi leads the goal scoring charts with nine goals in nine matches, with the nearest on six goals. Last week, he scored another brace in his team’s 3-2 win over Atvidaberg, his second since joining the club at the start of the season. His first brace came in Djurgardens’ 3-1 win over Falkenberg.

Mushekwi had been loaned to Belgium side KV Oostende in February last year before picking up a career-threatening injury and had appeared to be giving up on his career.

However, he has now fully recovered and appears to be at his best. It is a welcome development for Warriors coach Kalisto Pasuwa as he looks to build a strong squad for the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
