Joey Antipas’ men made a huge statement of intent with a comfortable 3-0 victory over the defending champions.

That Chicken Inn won the match in which Dynamos dominated in the entire first half highlighted the threat they pose in the championship race.

When you factor in that Antipas lifted the championship with Motor Action in 2010, there is every reason for the chasing pack to stand and take notice.

But the Chicken Inn gaffer remains modest as he prepares for the clash against Triangle who are in second position on the league table with 16 points from seven matches.

They enjoy top spot with 18 points from the same number of matches with Dynamos in third position.

“It’s a great win for us, but we are not talking about the championship. It’s too early to dream of the title. We want to remain humble. All we are doing is taking it game by game and the next game is against Triangle. That is what we are focusing on now. We want to stay among the leading pack because you never know what can happen at the end of the season.

“We want to put pressure on whoever is at the top and stay in the race,” Antipas said.

Triangle also beat Harare City 3-1 on Sunday to leapfrog Dynamos into second position on the league table.

The PSL has released a long three-week programme designed to cater for the Independence Trophy replay between Dynamos and FC Platinum on May 13, the Cosafa Cup, the Under-23 Championship match against Swaziland and in the long term, the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
