Moyo, who is nicknamed the The Bomber, was initially expected to take on Ricky “Apocalypse” Misholas in the headlining preliminary bout before the Namibian withdrew with an injured shoulder.’

The Bulawayo-born former World Boxing Federation (WBF) All-Africa heavyweight champion, who boats of high level boxing skills, physical strength and good endurance made his mixed martial arts debut in June last year.

Moyo has since fought four times in the professional ranks, winning twice via submissions and also losing twice through a technical knockout (TK0) and a decision.

His opponent on Saturday, Kowalkowski enters the Hexagon with a four and one record, consisting of decision and TKO victories. With a lean frame, Kowalkowski uses his reach well to set up for his wrestling and takedown’s where he is strongest.

“This will be a massive test for Moyo,” stated EFC matchmaker Graeme Cartmell ahead of the fight. “We all know he has the knockout power, and shown huge improvements in his ground game. Now he will have the chance to prove he is also in the run for the title.”
