Air Zimbabwe has acquired an A320 airbus and introduced new routes with competitive fares.

Speaking at the unveiling of the 160-seater Airbus yesterday, Transport and Infrastructural Development minister Obert Mpofu said: “The A320 offers optimised solutions as it has lesser fuel burn compared to our current fleet, thereby offering lower operating costs, less noise and air pollution, making the national airline environmentally friendly and more competitive.”
Mpofu said that the plane was recently in South Africa for mandatory checks.
“We pledge to continue supporting the air transport industry given its strategic importance to national development, through facilitating trade, tourism and regional integration,” he said.
After the disastrous buy 1 & get 1 free planes from China, this is a major achievement beyond words for Zim

Unveiling?? maybe this is another one but I was on board one from JHB to Harare in September 2013. It was flown by a guy who sounded Spanish??
did they buy one or are leasing one, clarify
How can AirZim afford a new aircraft when they can’t even afford to run their website?
Maintaining a website doesn’t require a whole lot of money… just competence.
The first sentence makes mention of new routes, but nothing further is said about this. Where does Bob want to go now? Langkawi? Dubai? Singapore? Please could AirZim tell us more than this “bare bones” announcement.
The Minister is wasting time unveiling this one plane? 1, wani here? Sure sure shuwa 1?
Bob will enjoy a change from Boeing to Airbus
