LOCAL hip-hop artistes Kudzai “Promics” Goredema and Sharon “Shez” Vinyu have released a track to honour the establishment of African Union (AU) titled Pembera Africa.

The three-minute track, produced by Majik of the Tynwald-based Royal Records, has compelling lyrics on the importance of unity in Africa.

Promics told NewsDay that as an artiste, he felt he needed to register his appreciation for African unity in the way he knows best.

“I felt that I needed to be part of Africa Day celebrations and the best way I could do that was through music which is a platform I can use to express my thoughts and feelings,” he said.

Pembera Africa is his second track on the same theme of African unity as he has another one he did last year titled Africa on which he was featured by another local hip-hop artiste.

“This year I wanted to pen something that is more African and I felt it required a female vocalist who could bring that aspect out. Shez is the perfect candidate as she has a very distinct voice,” said Promics.

He said fellow artistes should try to be objective when making their music so as to promote peace and unity in society.

“I believe artistes should be objective and should do things that have a positive effect on our societies,” he said.

“We are all Africans and for development and achievement of goals, we need to be united and march as one.”

Meanwhile, the young musician is working on his first music video which is set for official launch at the end of next month as well as a 10-track album under the same record label.
