In an interview with NewsDay, the choir’s marketing manager Peter Thole said they were looking forward to a great concert as they will host three shows at the same venue with tickets for each show selling for $5.

“We are appealing for support from well-wishers and corporates as we are in need of about $120 000 as we start to prepare for our United States of America tour where we are going to participate at the International Choral Music Festival in July next year,” Thole said.

“In 2013 we failed to travel to America for the same festival due to financial constraints as we couldn’t raise airfares. This time we have decided to start fundraising for the tour early so that hopefully we will not fail to travel again.”

Thole urged people to come in their numbers to the shows adding that they will be performing some of their new songs.

“The Friday show starts at 7pm while on Saturday the first concert starts at 2.30pm and the second concert will start at 7pm,” Thole said.

The 60-member choral group which was formed in 1993 by the late Israel Dzangare can sing in 11 different languages, including Shona, Latin, German, French, Xhosa and Zulu, which draws them wider audiences.

It has become one of the best choral ensembles in the country and has won many choral competitions on both the local and regional scene, receiving a considerable number of awards.

They have participated at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, the regional finals of the Old Mutual National Choral Festival in South Africa and the International Choral Festival in the US.
