Zimbabwean attacker Khama Billiat finally made his comeback and proved why Mamelodi Sundowns went an extra mile to acquire his services from Ajax Cape Town over a year ago.

Billiat has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season, and he is just one goal behind fellow teammate Cuthbert Malajila who is the club’s leading goalscorer.

He has credited his scintillating form to hard work.

“I think it all boils down to hard work and the hunger to want to play,” Billiat told Goal.

“When I was out injured, I used to watch the guys (teammates) play and I drew inspiration from there because I also missed playing a lot.

“So, when I finally recovered, I worked twice as hard because I was behind with fitness.

“I was patient also because I didn’t want to rush myself and force to play out of frustration.

“I was giving my all to the team and I think that is what has paid off the most.”

The 24-year-old suffered a metatarsal fracture last year, the injury that made him miss the start of the 2014/15 season. — Goal
