Luciano, affectionately known as the “Messenger”, was speaking to journalists soon after his arrival yesterday. His advice comes at a time when local music promoters and other stakeholders on the showbiz scene are calling for sanity and unity among local dancehall artistes as the beefs have often degenerated into violence. “I encourage artistes to keep working together for unity of purpose. Artistes must be united for the growth of the industry,” Luciano said.

“Upcoming artistes must respect their elders (veteran artistes) who are their foundation and work together since music is a mission not a competition.”

Luciano is a devout Rastafarian whose lyrics promote peace and condemn violence. Local chanters have been embroiled in nasty fights typical of the Jamaican “Gaza and Gully” wars of late as being reflected in their lyrics where they often dis each other.

Many dancehall/reggae followers have condemned feuds which they said were damaging to the industry. Luciano said local fans highly anticipated his visit and he was ready to deliver. Today he will be at Private Lounge where he will mingle with local fans.
