FC Platinum lost 2-1 to Harare City on Wednesday which was their second consecutive defeat after their 1-3 loss to Chicken Inn on April 11 and fans were reported to have turned on Mapeza while striker Donald Ngoma had an altercation with some of the fans who accused him of sabotaging the coach.

“I feel no pressure from the supporters,” Mapeza said yesterday. “We will try to get a point in our next match. We have been playing well, but we haven’t been seeing positive results. Take for example yesterday [Wednesday’s] match we had good opportunities to score, but we failed to utilise them. It is the nature of the game,” he said.

Mapeza told the post-match media conference on Wednesday that his players had missed a lot of scoring opportunities.

“I cannot complain about the way we have been playing because we have been doing well.

“It is just that we have been missing a lot of scoring opportunities. At the end of the day football is about scoring goals and if you do not score, it does not count,” he said.

FC Platinum have a number of players that are capable of carrying the team at any given day — the likes of Ngoma, Walter Musona, Wisdom Mutasa, Thabani Kamusoko and Aaron Katebe.

Tomorrow, they will be without Brian Muzondiwa who is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards against Dongo Sawmills, Caps United and Chicken Inn.

Lloyd Mutasa, who was in charge of Platinum before Mapeza took over, has seen his Whawha side failing to win five outing and anchor the log standings with two points. They have drawn twice and lost three matches, the last defeat coming against Tsholotsho at home.
