KARACHI — Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that foolproof security will be provided to the Zimbabwe team during cricket matches in the metropolis, planned for next month.

Revival of international cricket after six years is a cheerful occasion for everyone, the commissioner said in response to a letter from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requesting for the arrangements and security of the Zimbabwe team for the matches to be played at National Stadium, Karachi, during their visit to Pakistan in May.

“Sports for peace is our message, we feel pride in hosting Zimbabwe cricket team in the city” he remarked in response to the PCB letter.

“It is a collective responsibility of all to not only highlight Pakistan’s positive aspects with reference to sports but also give a message to the world that Pakistan is a safe country for sports,” the commissioner said.

It will be a way forward for other international cricket teams to play in Pakistan.

“Pakistan’s soft image should be highlighted before the world,” Siddiqui said.

He said that all required arrangements including security would be ensured with the help of police, law enforcement agencies and the city administration during the ODI and T-20 matches, scheduled in Karachi. — Nation.com
