The platinum miners registered their first victory of the season with a convincing 3-0 win over debutants Flame Lily and their coach Norman Mapeza believes his charges now have to embark on a quest for consistency.

“Everything is fine in our camp and we have a clean bill of health. Our objective after getting our first league win will be to achieve consistency so we will be looking for a positive result against Chicken Inn,” Mapeza said.

Thabani Kamusoko, Walter Musona and Donald Ngoma were on target for Pure Platinum Play in their midweek win over Flame Lily. That victory brought their campaign back on track having started off with a 2-2 home draw and a 1-0 loss away to Caps United. This afternoon they come up against a Chicken Inn side that is enjoying a purple patch in the league after notching up three wins and a single loss.

The Gamecocks go into the weekend fixtures sitting in third spot on the PSL log just a point behind joint log leaders Triangle and Dynamos who are both on 10 points. Chicken Inn’s good run has been built around a compact defence that is complimented by a packed midfield and speedy forwards but their head coach Joey Antipas believes his side is still far from perfect.

“Our preparations have gone quite well and we are still working hard to get things in perfect shape. It is still early days and there is a long way to go but the good thing is that we have got depth in all departments,” Antipas said.

Chicken Inn will be without impressive defender Lawrence Mhlanga who is away on national duty with the Young Warriors in Cameroon while FC Platinum contributed Wisdom Mutasa and dribbling wizard Marshal Mudehwe to the junior national team.

Meanwhile, a battle of top – flight newcomers is on in the city of Gweru tomorrow afternoon when Whawha welcome Tsholotsho at Ascot Stadium.
