The Constitutional court has dismissed an application filed by the 16 expelled former MDC-T legislatures who were seeking to challenge their ouster from the August House, saying their application was devoid of merit.

Chief justice Godfrey Chidyausiku delivered the unanimous ruling in a fully packed court after hearing submissions from the former MP’s lawyer Professor Lovemore Madhuku and advocate Lewis Uriri.
After the announcement of the judgement, MDC Renewal team spokesperson Jacob Mafume said his party was not amused by the court’s decision and that they had resolved not to participate in the forthcoming by-elections which he described as “Zanu-PF’s donations”.
