HIGHLANDERS and Dynamos are finally expected to receive their 2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) kits in 10 days from suppliers Adidas.

The rest of the teams in the PSL have new strips for the season, leaving the giants in a somewhat embarrassing situation, despite a huge financial outlay from their sponsors of the last four years, BancABC. Middleman Edzai Kasinauyo of E-Sport yesterday confirmed that the two clubs were expected to receive their equipment from Adidas South Africa. Both teams started the season without new gear after the kits were not delivered on time.

“They got brand new kits on the first week of the PSL (Premier Soccer League) season. I do not know where they got it from that they were not supplied with kits. They received home and away strips on the day,” said Kasinauyo.

He added: “The rest of the equipment that they are meant to use during the season will probably be here in the next 10 days.” A source told NewsDay Sport on Saturday evening that they were evaluating the costs in the belief that in the past, they had been overpriced.

“They are getting their kits definitely, but we were looking at some issues like pricing. We want the best for the two teams and ultimately they must be the beneficiaries of quality products that match their status. We were a bit concerned with the pricing at some stage, but I think we have put that behind us and we will deliver very soon,” the source said.

It is understood that Highlanders met representatives of their sponsors BancABC in Harare last week and selected their new strips while Dynamos had already selected theirs. Both will receive track suits, socks, training and playing kits.

Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede confirmed that they were still to receive their full equipment, but said they had been reassured by their sponsor, BancABC, that they would be getting it sometime this week.

“We are still using the improvised kit that was supplied by Edzai. Our sponsor, however, wrote to us during the week and told us that there was a delay from the Adidas distributor in supplying the kit,” he said.

Gumede said they were told that they would be getting the equipment by next week in time for their Premier League encounter against Caps United.

“Against Dongo Sawmills this week we will use the improvised kit, but we are expecting to get it by the time we play against Caps United next week,” he said.

BancABC also sponsors newly-promoted side Flame Lily and Chapungu through their subsidiary BancEasy.
