AN amazing fiction movie, Avengers Age of Ultron, premiered on Thursday at Ster Kinekor Eastgate in Harare as the cinema franchise hosted the 2015 highly-anticipated movie of the year.

BY TATIRA ZWINOIRA The sequel to 2012’s hit movie The Avengers, that earned a stunning $1,5 billion, premiered a week ahead of its United States release.

Before the première of the movie, the audience in attendance was treated to superb performances by local musician Ammara Brown. The storyline of the movie chronicles the second outing of the group of heroes, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Hawkeye with new editions Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Vision who take on an artificial intelligence called Ultron hell-bent on destroying the world.

From research, the two-and-a-half hours long movie was made on a budget of $250 million.

Speaking to NewsDay, some of the people who attended the event appreciated the movie.

Rufaro Mhondo, who attended the event with his girlfriend Varaidzo Chirambadare, said: “For this move, I read a lot of comics and followed the whole build-up, that’s why I came to watch it.”

People who attended the event were offered the movie in 3D, which gave them a new dimension — watching the movie as if they were part of the action.

Ster Kinekor’s brand ambassador Sharon Enkromelle Andrew and public speaker Ntandoyenkosi Khumalo attended the event. Others present were local dance group HD Crew and Mudiwa “Hood” Mutandwa.

Khumalo has been a presenter for Ster Kinekor`s premiere nights for six months to a year.

“Once every month we have a new movie that comes straight from the US so when it premieres in the world, it premiere in Zimbabwe,” said Khumalo

“People can expect to watch better movies that are hosted in a better way enough of the days, whereby you come to the movie and head straight for the movie. Now you are getting more value than what you paid for.

“Movies like Avengers Age of Ultron have got super heroes and with fictional characters, there is something intriguing about them. It is not real, but to the mind it’s entertainment,” said Clive Nyasondo another movie goer in attendance.
