National Biotechnology Authority registrar and chief executive officer Jonathan Mufandaedza spoke to NewsDay at the regional biotechnology training workshop at a Harare hotel and said biotechnology can be applied in industry, agriculture, mining, medicine, and even environment to produce vaccines, chemicals, increase crop yields and others.

Mufandaedza said in the agriculture sector Zimbabwe had not yet agreed to genetically modified organisms (GMOs), adding wherever biotechnology was used risk assessment was done to determine safety.
