The Grand Challenge is an annual promotion run by the listed retailer and is in its 27th edition this year.

The promotion was unveiled on Wednesday and entries close on June 5.

“This year we have 44 cars on offer across a network of 48 stores which is an uptick from last year. A Nissan Navara is the grand prize to be won on race day on June 6 only for those in attendance,” Makomva said.

The promotion has over 100 participating products totalling over $1 million, covering groceries and residential stands, among others.

A total of eight coupons that customers can enter to win prizes has been designed for this year’s edition from $2,50 noting the economic constraints customers are facing.

“Our strategy was made with the people in mind and the entry requirements for different prizes are affordable,” Makomva said.

Brand names participating in the challenge include Delta Beverages, Econet Wireless, National Foods, Dairibord Zimbabwe, Cairns Foods and Innscor, among others.

“We have 36 supplier partners and the majority of our major suppliers that provide us with the main brands are in the promotion,” group chief operating officer Albert Katsande said.

“Besides that, we have other suppliers coming in with supplementary prizes.”

Due to offering more in prizes to the consumer base, OK Zimbabwe remained very optimistic on business across their retail stores.

“We expect an increase in the number of customers coming to our stores, an uptick in purchase activity and an increase in the size of basket of big value products we have on promotion,” Katsande said.

On OK’s expansion plans, Katsande said the main focus was to upgrade stores with ambient facilities to continue to be the torch bearers in facility innovation.

“We believe that our customers deserve to shop in ambient facilities and we continue to invest in that.

“Our goal is to reaffirm ourselves as the leading retail brand in Zimbabwe,” Katsande said.
