THE trial of a 30-year-old Marondera woman who allegedly defrauded Proton Bakeries of more than $100 000 has been set aside to pave way for the police forensic department to confirm whether the signatures on the sales control sheets match hers.

Fungisai Mubvuma, an accounts clerk at the confectionery firm, was set free yesterday and advised that she would only be summoned to court if forensic experts confirmed the signatures as hers.
The court heard that the forensic department currently had a huge backlog and was unlikely to attend to the matter soon.
Mubvuma and her alleged accomplice Zorodzai Zvoushe, currently on the run, were facing serious fraud charges.
According to court papers, between January 1 and November 25 last year at Proton Bakery in Marondera, Mubvuma, who works as an accounts clerk supervisor, allegedly connived with Zvoushe to defraud the company.
The pair allegedly falsified figures on the sales control sheet to purport as if the amounts on the mentioned sheets had been received and entered into the Proton Bakery accounting system.
The State further alleged that as a result of the fraudulent action, the company lost a total of $104 275.
