Sibanda, who was expelled from Zanu PF last year over allegations of belonging to former Vice-President Joice Mujuru’s camp, told NewsDay over the weekend that senior government officials, including Cabinet ministers were corrupt and ran ministries without a clear understanding of the national agenda, hence government’s failure to revive the economy.

“The policies of Zanu PF have been betrayed by the leading personnel of the party. The leading personnel in the party are actually corrupt to the bone marrow,” Sibanda said.

He claimed that during the era of bureau de changes over 10 years ago, almost 90% of the politburo members had licences to run the financial institutions yet their source of foreign currency remained obscure. Sibanda said when he raised the issue about 12 years ago when he was chairperson of the war veterans for Bulawayo province, he was fired.

“What was the source of their foreign currency? When I stood up against the issue in 2004 I was chased. “Most of the policies in Zanu PF are good, but they have been betrayed and made to serve the few and these are the core issues why they are purging me.

“Zanu PF will reward criminals. I really feel sorry for President (Robert) Mugabe. Each minister does as he wants like there is no national agenda and national direction.

“Each minister comes and dissolves the boards of parastatal in their particular ministry. Each minister has become a president in that particular ministry and does as he or she pleases,” he said.
