The medical team, under the banner of Doctors of Hope in Zimbabwe whose patron is former Health Minister, Timothy Stamps, will be stationed at Dombwe Secondary School for the whole day.

Murewa South Member of Parliament Joel Biggie Matiza, who is also the Minister of State for Mashonaland East Province said scores of villagers will have an opportunity to be treated for free.

“Today a team of 14 young medical personnel from Harare will be stationed at Dombwe School in Murewa offering free medical treatment to villagers a move that is meant to assist those who are struggling to secure medical assistance due to financial troubles,” he said.

“The team will be led by one Dr Yasini and comprises three doctors, five laboratory technicians, two counselors and four nurses who will be offering medical assistance to any ailment for the whole day.”

Matiza said the doctors will also offer voluntary HIV testing and counselling while those in critical condition will be referred to hospitals.

“It is common in the rural areas that some people get sick for a long time but do not go to hospital.

“The team told us that they are even bringing a standby ambulance to ferry those in critical condition,” he said.

The economic crisis in the country has crippled the health service delivery system especially in rural areas where there was scarcity of drugs and medical personnel.
