On Sunday, the stadium will host newly promoted Dongo Sawmills, who will be playing their first home match of the season against How Mine — a rare double treat for Rusape football fans.

Sakubva, some 94 kilometres from Rusape was condemned by the Zifa grounds committee after failing to meet the required standards. Tomorrow the army side who are coming from a 3-0 drubbing by league champions Dynamos will lock horns against Kelvin Kaindu’s coached Triangle.

The Chiredzi-based side started the campaign on a convincing fashion after they defeated Hwange 5-2 at Gibbo Stadium last Sunday.

On Sunday top-flight league debutants Dongo Sawmills will host Luke Masomere-coached How Mine in a match that is promising fireworks. Dongo started the season on a strong footing after they managed to hold their much fancied opponents FC Platinum to a 2-2 stalemate at Mandava in Zvishavane.

Buffaloes secretary-general Arnold Gatsi said they are not worried about playing at Vhengere.

“Vhengere Stadium will be our home this weekend when we play Triangle. Mutare City Council are yet to complete renovations at Sakubva Stadium, but they promised to be done by this weekend,” he said.

“We are not, however, worried about playing at Vhengere this weekend because somehow we know the stadium than our counterparts. So we are confident of registering a win on Saturday (tomorrow),” he said.

Triangle head coach Kelvin Kaindu told NewsDay Sport that they should not be too excited after their 5-2 win over Hwange.

“We scored five goals against Hwange and they are a big team in the league. So generally l was impressed, if your team scores five goals they you say you were not impressed that will be wrong. We are going to face Buffaloes and the fact that they are coming from a 3-0 defeat does not mean that they are bad side.” he said.
