Organised by former Chinhoyi University of Technology Creative Art and Design student Talent Madamombe, the exhibition will run under the theme, Life as We Know It.

Five Zimbabwean artists Wilson Zuze, Peter Kwangware, Waison Mupedza, Petros Kaseke and Alexio Kapondora will be showcasing their works at the exhibition.

Speaking to NewsDay, Madamombe said the exhibition will showcase massive paintings done on canvas and paper.

“We named this exhibition, Life as We Know It, as we are convinced that life is subjective which is enjoyed in its simplicity, the natural beauty of nature and emotion,” she said.

“Through their artworks, the artists use their talent to express how life can be defined and enjoyed and their interpretation of life from their day to day experiences.”

She said the exhibition is open to the public.

“An exhibition in public brings artists closer to people, and brings people closer to art. Exposure to exhibitions such as this one will enable artistes to think about their future and the opportunities the arts field will bring,” she said.

“It is my hope that this exhibition will just be the beginning as we look forward to make it an occasional event so as to encourage the emergence of a social network amongst people who share an interest in art in Zimbabwe.”

Madamombe is optimistic that the exhibition will provide a rare experience for the artists.

“The exhibition will bring the artist’s career closer to the students so that they have an appreciation of what the art industry is like and what it has to offer,” she said.

“Instead of looking at photographs of artworks on a website, in a magazine or catalogue, the 5 Arts exhibition offers the real life opportunity of experiencing a piece of art on exhibition.”

She said the artworks will be available at the venue until April 2 to facilitate post exhibition viewing.

“Locals must support home grown talent for the growth of the sector,” Madamombe said.
