Guzah, who lost Zanu PF internal polls in 2013 for Magunje to Francis Ndambakuwa, is among eight Zanu PF members shortlisted for the party’s primary elections ahead of the by-election set for June 10.

Mashonaland West acting provincial chairperson Ziyambi Ziyambi yesterday confirmed Guzah’s candidature.

“Cde Guzah is among the names of those who want to stand as MP for Hurungwe West, but we will allow primary elections to take place so that the people there can choose who they want to represent them,” Ziyambi, who is also Home Affairs deputy minister, said.

Mliswa, who has announced plans to contest the seat as an independent, has already launched his campaign with traditional leaders and war veterans in the area rallying behind him.

The other Zanu PF members who have expressed interest in the constituency are Malvin Chimutashu, Robert Tichareva, Lancelot Karonga, Retired Colonel Patrick Maponga, Tainazvi Mahere, Tichaona Mathew and Chinjai Kambuzuma.
