ZimFirst principal co-ordinator Maxwell Zeb Shumba said if Zimbabweans come together, there would be a potential to turn the country from its current “pathetic”

$4 billion economy to a sound and robust $1,5 trillion economy.

Shumba was responding to State media reports on Tuesday that ZimFirst was clandestinely working with the main opposition MDC-T mooting protest meetings in South Africa, the United States of America and in Zimbabwe.

“In fact, there is no need to destabilise Zimbabwe at this point, because Zimbabwe is already destabilised with everything which can possibly go wrong, going wrong,” he said yesterday from his United States base.

“We are builders who want to see this country rebuilt. In its current status Zimbabwe is a country no one is proud to hand over to the next generation. Therefore, our mission seeks to unite all Zimbabweans towards finding a global solution to these economic, social and political problems by creating a platform for Zimbabweans to work in harmony.”

Shumba said a harmonised society was a precursor to political and economic stability.

“That’s what Zimbabwe needs now and it’s a duty of every citizen who loves Zimbabwe First to work towards that goal. A journey of a thousand miles beings with one step. ZimFirst has taken that first step already and The Herald should stop vilifying us. We need to be supported instead,” he said.

“ZimFirst is neither a new political party nor a coalition. It is a concept and a philosophy, born from loud calls made by Zimbabweans in their generality across the globe for the creation of a unifying, non-partisan platform capable of taking Zimbabweans out of the current toxic political environment.”

He said ZimFirst has gained support from Zimbabweans from all walks of life and was well supported by a growing number of respectable Africans across the continent under a transformational theme called, Getting Africa Working Again, with Zimbabwe First.

“We are adamant that Zimbabwe should not be known as a country where people are abducted and disappear into oblivion as what happened to Itai Dzamara or as a country where we focus on fighting each other,” Shumba said.

“We should have a reputation of being a people known for focusing their time and efforts towards finding each other and finding common good to get our country back to its glorious days.”
