Marere, who is now turning out for How Mine Football Club, also issued another letter of demand threatening to sue Northern Region Division Two side Twalumba Football Club for yet another outstanding signing-on fee in the sum of $25 000.

In a letter of demand addressed to the Dynamos Football Club Secretary-general, dated November 24 2014, Marere’s lawyers Nyangani Law Chambers said: “Our client instructs us that he signed a contract of employment with you on July 28 2013, in terms of which our client was to play football for your club. In terms of the written contract, in particular clause 4 thereof, our client was to get a signing-on fee of $5 000 in additions to other benefits. We are however, advised that you did not pay our client the fee.

“We are, therefore, instructed to demand as we hereby do, that you pay our client the sum of $5 000 within the next four days, failing which we are instructed to institute legal proceedings for recovery of the same without further notice to you.”

In terms of the contract, the other benefits which Marere was entitled to receive were transport allowance in the sum of $20 per month, a winning bonus of $150 per game and a draw bonus of $50 per game.

In another letter of demand, this time to Twalumba, the lawyers said:“Our client instructs us that he signed a contract of employment with you in January 2011, in terms of which our client was to play football for your club. In terms of the written contract in particular clause 4, our client was to get a signing on fee of $25 000 in addition to other benefits.

“We are, therefore, instructed to demand as we hereby do, that you pay our client the sum of $25 000 within the next four days, failing which we are instructed to institute legal proceedings for recovery of the same without further notice to you.”

Efforts to get comments from both club officials were fruitless at the time of going to print.
